OS X works with virtually all of today's digital cameras, printers, and other peripherals without the need to manually download separate drivers. Lower fps counters and all).I've not gone into extensive benchmarking using game's timedemos and all, but still this is indicative of the trend Apple's unfortunately chose to go towards. For the time being i feel let down by this.Being a Mac user since 1993 and currently looking after 9 intel Mac's and my experience with Lion is as follows:It works reasonably well for hobby user who maybe sync there iPhone do a bit of web browsing and email and only have a dozen of programs installed and open at a time, for example my media center, or my wife's Mini makes very little trouble (though even that freezes occasionally and needs to be force restarted). However for Power user (Quad Intel 32 MB Ram, latest and biggest iMac 16GB ram etc) is is very, very buggy, slow and in my eyes the worst OS apple released in a long time. The spinning beach ball show up far to often and for far to long, machines in- explicitly restart itself, windows in the background are un-responsive until you actually click on the window bar.An yes I have apple support for all machines and used it extensively and there are also no known conflicting software I use.And they run smooth without any of the issues Lion has.First of all, let me give thanks to all of you who "tested" Lion in its previous versions. I've tested this on 2 different systems separated by more than 5 years, a MacBookPro2,2 (C2D 2.33 15.4''), as well as an iMac11,1 (i5 4cores 2.66 27'') only to find out that both NovaBench and OpenGL extensions viewer yield substantially lower results in the graphics sector which is also apparent during the tests (i.e. These may be small nuisances at first glance, but things like these made OSX what it is today.elegance and attention to detail. Then there's the HUGE performance drop when it comes to GRAPHICS performance and specifically to openGL. I'm not sure if it's a full kernel panic because i let the display sleep but let the mac run, and the display is still off, but the rest of the mac is locked up. The problem is, when I turn off the hotspot over night, the system will totally crash at random times while there is no internet connection, the only real way i have solved this is to actually put the macbook to sleep.I tried the airport fix, of downgrading the airport driver to 3.2 from snow leopard, and it still crashes, so i'm getting the impression it's another part of the os, or an application/service running that crashes when there is no internet. And the transition to iCloud went far more smoothly than I could have imagined.Overall, I like Lion, though there are some things to get used to: not utilizing Spaces in quite the same way as in the past the scolling the inability to access the Dock when in full screen mode "Launchpad" and "Mission Control" are cartoonish titles and should be replaced' actually, Launchpad should be replaced with LaunchBar!I have noticed a bit of slow down and some spinning beach balls, but sense that will get better once the system has fully indexed.BTW- I am using an early 2009 17“ MBPro, 2.66Ghz, with 4G RamI like some of the new features lion offers, and for the most part I find the os, to be problem free for me, however, there is one nasty bug I have encountered in the last couple months, that I can't seem to resolve.I switched from cable to 4G for internet and now have a MiFi hotspot from verizon, everything is fine when i'm connected to the internet. I was up and running in just a few short hours total. Installation from Snow Leopard was very straight forward for me. As far as i know from all the reports i've seen, Lion is the latest os my hardware can handle, unless apple changes the requirements in mountain lion's final release. If someone can help me resolve this please let me know. For me, after fixing permissions before and after using the Combo Updater (the newer one), rebuilding/replacing the root directory and fixing all files with DiskWarrior 4.4, and restarting several times, 10.7.3 is a smidge SLOWER than 10.7.2 on both my new BTO 3.4 GHz Quad-Core i7 27" iMac with 16 GB of RAM and Late 2008 2.4 GHz Unibody Intel 13" MacBook with 4 GB of RAM (both using the 64-bit kernel).10.7. I have as an alternative to icloud imported my contacts from icloud into google and sync snow leopard with that.Any help would be appreciated.
